Medical Assistance: Rehabilitation Treatment for Stroke Aftermath

The applicant is a single mother who has been actively involved in social work for many years after her marriage ended. Unfortunately, in 2023, she suddenly suffered a stroke and collapsed, leading to hospitalization and a period of unconsciousness. Since then, her mobility has been affected by the aftermath of the stroke, preventing her from continuing to work and resulting in a loss of income.

In recent years, the family has relied solely on her disability allowance and her only son's income to cover living expenses. However, as her son has just graduated and entered the workforce, his income is low and unstable, making it difficult to afford the rehabilitation and medical expenses following her stroke.

In addition to the rehabilitation therapy after the stroke, she is also troubled by dental issues that have affected her health and emotional well-being. The dentist has recommended dental care to address these problems. Given the significant costs associated with dental treatment, these medical expenses have imposed a great financial strain on both mother and son.

With the assistance of the foundation, she has received support for her post-stroke rehabilitation. After undergoing some acupuncture and physical therapy, her mobility has significantly improved. She expressed deep gratitude for the foundation's financial assistance during this challenging recovery period.

In response to this case, the foundation has not only provided them with monthly support of HKD 3,000 for six months, but has also fully covered the costs of the applicant's dental treatment.
